This holiday season you can support the homeless, abused and abandoned animals with meaningful gifts from the Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!) no-kill adoption agency established in 1979.

“BARC! is introducing our first-ever pet photo calendar and limited edition ornaments which increase the public’s awareness of animal rescue and spay/neuter” stated Sonja Presley, Executive Director.

The 2012 pet photo calendars are beautiful 28-page full color, glossy 11x17 calendars and are $20. They can be purchased at Petsense Factory Outlet Store at the Tanger Outlet in Foley.

Limited edition ornaments come in two versions -- "Rescue and Adopt" and "Save a Life, Spay and Neuter. " They are professionally printed 3" circles with glossy finish on plastic tied with red ribbon for $10.

Both items are available at the BARC! office at 306 Magnolia Ave in downtown Fairhope Monday through Thursday 9am to 4pm.

CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!) is paying homage to the role companion dogs and cats play in our lives with a full color 11” x 20” glossy 2012 calendar that will have 73 pictures (no advertisements) and include names of pets and owners.

BARC! is now accepting pictures from the public for its calendar fundraiser. BARC! rescues only domesticated companion dogs and cats; to further promote its mission, the photo subject matter must include one or more dogs and/or cats.

Submit your photo today to become 1 of the 73 approved photos that will appear on the calendar. You may enter multiple times but for different pets.

On the left side of the top page for each month are 2 medium-sized photos for a $125 donation each.

The bottom page for each month will have the month's calendar and will feature 3 smaller pictures for a $75 donation each.

BIG REVEAL FOR "PET OF THE YEAR" WHO WILL GRACE CALENDAR COVER

BARC! conducted final voting Sept 15, 2011, at the Flora-Bama for Pet of the Year. Donald and Peggy Rogers’ Sheltie Molly had the highest votes and will grace the cover of BARC’s 2012 pet photo calendar. The Rogers’ embodied the spirit of the competition – all 4 of their daughters and a slew of friends and family (including their hairdresser!) donated $1 per vote which totaled $1,061.

Thirteen pictures will vie for the front cover; voting will determine which becomes “Pet of the Year.” Preliminary voting is conducted online, by mail, by phone and at the BARC! office thru Sept 14, 2011. Final voting will be in person at the Big Reveal party Sept 15, 2011, at the Flora-Bama.

Each vote is $1 and there is no limit to the number of votes a person can cast.

You are allowed and encouraged to vote for your own pet. Who loves them more than you do? All donations are tax deductible and go to BARC! rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming more dogs and cats.

Everyone whose picture appears will get one free calendar. Anyone who casts 20 or more votes between now and Sept 15, 2011, will get one free calendar.
