Frank (Native of New Orleans) and Maddie (Native of Colorado) Temonia moved to the Eastern Shore in 1993 from New Orleans, LA.
Frank and Maddie Temonia were owners of a local answering service in Daphne called Alternative Answering. After 17 years, they retired in August 2009.
After seeing a news clip on Homeless Animal Rescue Team of Maine (H.A.R.T) on Facebook about Pet Food Pantry in Fairfield, ME, staffed with 7 volunteers, it started the wheels in Maddie’s mind. So off to work Maddie went to try and start her own Pet Food Pantry in Baldwin County. Not being able to obtain a 501c status, and there wasn’t much response with her contacts, Maddie had to put the idea on the shelf.
Several months later, Maddie was looking at her Facebook page, Maddie saw BARC post that a Pet Food Pantry was about to debute on Tuesday, May 3. Immediately Maddie emailed BARC and said she wanted to volunteer. After speaking with Sonja Presley, BARC! Executive Director and Maria Gwynn, BARC! Board President, the decision was made that Frank and Maddie Temonia would become the coordinators for Pet Food Pantry.
Frank and Maddie Temonia have done some work with the Fairhope Cat Coalition in TNR; passionately support Animal Rescue Site.com and German Shepherd Rescue of Central Alabama.
All of their "furbabies" are rescues.
Frank and Maddie’s first passion are spay and neuter programs, but their heart goes out to the people who have had to make the choice of having to give up their animals in these economic times. They truly believe there has to be a way to save a family from having to make that choice and to try and relieve some of the burden from our local shelters. That is why they have chosen to devote their newly found retirement to Pet Food Pantry.
