Sunset Yoga on the Bluff Benefits BARC! Aug 26
The third annual Sunset Yoga for Charity brings end of the week yoga to the masses on the bluff overlooking the Fairhope Pier. On August 26 the Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!) will get 100% of the proceeds.
Yoga class starts at 6:30pm just south of the Fairhope Pier at Mobile Street by the metal seahorse statue on the bluff. Bring your own mat and a friend -- leashed dogs are welcome too. Students make a freewill donation at each class; instructors choose a charity.
“My parents founded the only animal shelter in Panama 25 years ago and they still run it; helping animals has always been a part of my life” remarked Anjie Gonzalez, Yoga Instructor. “So when the opportunity to teach yoga for a cause came up I chose BARC! because they are not a shelter and I know how much work it is to rescue animals and find fosters until they find homes.”
Billie Reinhart with Mind and Motion Yoga organizes the outdoor classes on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. Reinhart commented “We've raised over $1,000 for various groups the past 3 years. This year is by far the best year with a dozen Yoga teachers raising money for a dozen different charities. “
BARC! is a no-kill adoption agency (rather than a shelter). They are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit established in 1979; they were the first and remain the only county-wide animal welfare agency. Its goal is to eliminate the number of abused and abandoned pets through spay/neuter, education, rescue and adoption. For more information call 251.928.4585.
