The Animal Rescue Run 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Pet Trot is set for December 18, 2010, at Centennial Park in Daphne. Proceeds are dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned pets in the Mobile/Baldwin area, providing them with proper medical care and placing them in loving homes.
This fun-filled family fundraiser, now in its tenth year, will feature a one-mile Pet Trot through scenic Daphne. Route highlights will include "pawzstations" with plenty of water, food and fun for pets of all kinds and their human companions. All breeds are welcome!
The 5K starts at 8am; the route is scenic out and back 5K course in Daphne. Pre-registration is $20 and race day registration is $25.
The 1-mile Fun Run/Pet Trot starts at 9:00am. Pre-registration is $15 and race day registration is $20. It’s a scenic walk in downtown Daphne from Centennial Park at the corner of Trione and Main Street to where we turn around at Potters Mill.
Entry fees include race entry, race t-shirt and entry to the post race party at Centennial Park where top walkers and team prizes will be announced.
James Pennington, Race Director and event organizer for a decade, has designated the fundraiser for Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!), the Fairhope Cat Coalition and the Azalea City Cat Coalition.
“Last year we had about 50 dogs from Chihuahua-sized to St Bernard-sized in the Pet Trot” remarked Pennington. “Lot of fun for pet owners to exercise their beloved companions, all the while raising money for the less fortunate animals in our community.”
While the Pet Trot is not an animal-adoption event, representatives of the three groups will be on hand.
